DOMA overturned!
The Supreme Court Makes Huge Leaps For Marriage Equality

Quote:In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court has struck down Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) that prevents federal recognition of same-sex marriages.

“DOMA is unconstitutional as a deprivation of the equal liberty of persons that is protected by the Fifth Amendment,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the court’s decision in the case of United States v. Windsor.

DOMA was struck down much like how Lawrence vs. Texas was struck down.Thumbsup

The Religious Right is taking it really well

Quote:Televangelist Pat Robertson on Thursday reacted to two landmark Supreme Court decisions favoring same sex marriage by suggesting that the court’s swing vote, Justice Anthony Kennedy, may have law clerks “who happen to be gays.”

Sanity has finally prevailed. Hopefully more states will come around and legalize gay marriage.

Quote:“So ladies and gentlemen, your liberties are in danger because read the Bible about Sodom and Gomorrah. That’s where the term comes from, Sodom.”

“Look what happened to Sodom. After a while, there wasn’t any other way, and God did something pretty drastic.”

You know Pat, the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was described in Ezekiel 16:49:

"Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy."

Looks like Pat needs to read his Bible. It would appear that if God was going to bring down his wrath on us for the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah, it would have happened a long time ago.
Can't really say anything else except great news.BiggrinYoda-grin

Marriages have resumed in California: Same-sex weddings underway in California

Quote:The four plaintiffs in the U.S. Supreme Court case that overturned California's same-sex marriage ban tied the knot Friday, just hours after a federal appeals court freed gay couples to obtain marriage licenses in the state for the first time in 4 1/2 years.

State Attorney General Kamala Harris presided at the San Francisco City Hall wedding of Kris Perry and Sandy Stier as hundreds of supporters looked on and cheered. The couple sued to overturn the state's voter-approved gay marriage ban along with Jeff Katami and Paul Zarrillo, who married at Los Angeles City Hall 90 minutes later with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa presiding.
