2013 Papal Conclave
#1
We've reached the day of the official start of the Papal Conclave to elect the 266th Pope and the successor to Benedict XVI.

The first Papal ballot was held earlier today turned only black smoke.

The BBC has a nice list of possible runners and riders for the next Pope here:

Thoughts and predictions?

How many signatures do I need to get on the ballot?Yoda-winkYoda-silly

It's unlikely this will end after just a couple days... how long did it take last time?
Fry: "What was the purpose of life, anyway?"
Farnsworth: "Who knows? Probably some hogwash about the human spirit."

Timothy Dolan would be a perfect pope: anti-women, anti-birth control, anti-common sense, and great at appearing full of himself.
T'Pol: I am not old, I will only be 66 years old on my next birthday.
Trip: I can't believe you told me that.
T'Pol: You accused me of being old.

They picked a guy. Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina, who will now be known as Pope Francis I. First pope from the Americas.

Sounds like a good choice. And I was surprised it took them so fast (I was expecting a choice at the earliest today).

He seems like a good choice. I'm just glad the Austrian cardinal that's occasionally mentioned as a candidate didn't get it, that would be unbearable.
