I want to start with the A Song of Ice and Fire series, the book series Game of Thrones is based upon. Has anyone here read them? How different are they from the TV show? Are they better/worse than the show? Are they a difficult read?
As Wenty said, if you like the show you'll most likely enjoy the books. I've read the first three books, which correspond to seasons 1-4 of the show.

In the books, many of the characters tend to make rather dark or questionable decisions and aren't cut and dry good or bad guys like in most other fantasies (Tyrion in particular).
