Why didn't I see this coming: Tom DeLay Claims God 'Wrote The Constitution'

Quote:Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) urged Americans to realize that God “wrote the Constitution” and predicted an upcoming “awakening” during an interview on John Hagee Ministries’ Global Evangelism Television network on Wednesday.

“I think we got off the track when we allowed our government to become a secular government,” DeLay told host Matthew Hagee, the executive pastor of the Texas Cornerstone Church. “[W]e stopped realizing that God created this nation, that he wrote the Constitution, that it’s based on biblical principles.”

I doubt Tom DeLay has any idea what the constitution says...Yoda-rolleyes

I didn't know James Madison was god.Yoda-wink

Here's a nice quote Madison had this to say on secularism: "The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe with blood for centuries."

Spoken like a true power-hungry theocrat.

He clearly doesn't understand (or omitted) that the Declaration of Independence rejected the god of the bible (in whose name the monarchs of Europe were anointed) in favor of NATURE and NATURE's god.

I doubt DeLay has any idea what the constitution actually says.

"The Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." -Treaty of Tripoli, 1797

The last thing the founders wanted was a country based on the Bible.
It's always a good night for a walk.
