Original Version vs. Covers

There have been probably thousands of songs that have been covered by multiple singers/groups over the years.

I love Simon and Garfunkel's A Hazy Shade of Winter, but I also quite like the 1987 cover by The Bangles. I don't like it better than the original, but I do like it a good deal.

Are there any covers that you think are equal or superior to the original versions?

Furious Israel Bars Günter Grass for Critical Poem

I didn't follow the news about this the last couple days, but because news about this doesn't appear to stop I looked into this and all I can say is: Are you kidding me?

What the hell is even controversial about this? Everything Grass said there is true. And calling Günter Gras an anti-semite, and a Nazi? Because as a teenager he was forced into service in the Waffen-SS and was embarassed about it later in his life?

I'm completely baffled by all this. Somebody exaplain to me how saying Israel shouldn't nuke Iran make Günter Grass a Nazi? Am I missing something or has the Israeli government completely lost it's mind?

Arizona Internet Censorship Bill So Ridiculous, Even The MPAA And RIAA Are Against It

Speculate on Where Tim Tebow Is Going

Now that Peyton Manning and his five year 90 million dollar contract is landing in Denver, anyone want to place bets as to where QB Tim Tebow will end up? I read on MSN that even if Tebow wants to stay in Denver, the Broncos management will not want him because they don't want his huge salary just to backup Manning and they want no hint of a QB controversy.

They want Manning to come in, be in charge from day one, and get them a Super Bowl before his body wears out.

This caught me as awkwardly confrontational for a guy courting their vote. It's almost as if he went to Puerto Rico to rally support among Republicans elsewhere.

This boy, Jacob, told him about the man who had taken children his age and created an army. The girls were used for sex. The boys for a fighting force. The man who is behind all this is known as Joseph Kony. He is the one who has to be arrested and stopped.

General Krell orders Captain Rex and the clone troopers of the 501st Legion to conquer a heavily fortified Umbaran airbase, and will not accept anything less than victory. It is an almost certain suicide mission, unless the clones can use their ingenuity to defeat their new enemy.
