Yesterday's disappointing job creation numbers provide a cap for some of the negative and disappointing news on the economy. With only 51k jobs produced last month, it is becoming readily apparent that we are in danger as a country of going back into recession or at best a jobless recovery.
What would you do to create jobs in the USA and how would you do it?
I'd go with massive investment in infrastructure. Just think of all the jobs required to build high speed rail, improve mass transit in cities, modernize air traffic control systems, build the electrical smart grid, fix crumbling roadways and bridges, etc.
I'm still waiting for the tax breaks for the rich to create jobs.
In reality, job creation will not get back to a respectable level until the housing glut is eliminated. That's going to take several years at least.

I agree. Domestic spending on these project would create a lot of jobs and that would spread to other industries as well.
Of course it won't happen because it's too easy.

I agree... somewhat. But who'll pay?
The problem with Keynesian economics is that the USA only understood the "Spend state money when the economy crashes" part but totally screwed up the "Save money when the economy is booming!" part in the past.
So now there's no money left to spend cause nobody dared raising the taxes when the economy was going strong.
The Democrats have this plan that actually worked once, its called the Clinton era but the Republicans are still stuck in the 1980's or 2000 years ago reading some badly written genocidal book of hate from some all powerful overlord with a big beard.
