You know, I couldn't help but to notice that there is a "Add thread to Favorites" now at the bottom of threads now. Has it always been there or was it just added?
If it is new, I like the idea, but isn't it redundant to the Subscription system?
I like it, favorite threads are useful to find threads that I might need to refer to later.

Subscriptions should be used for getting notification on new posts. That's just my opinion.

Exactly, although favorite threads looks to be the same as the subscription system, they do have different uses. Favorite threads should be used to mark a thread you might wish to refer back to in the future (like the rule threads

). Subscriptions should be used to keep up with new replies on threads.
Also, subscriptions prune if it's associated thread isn't posted in for 90 days. Favorite aren't pruned.
I like it as well, can be very useful if you needed to remember stuff.
